Ever dreamt of ski touring in a remote corner of the world, surrounded by mountains, culture, and a supportive group of women who just get it?
Join me in Kazakhstan for a truly unique ski touring adventure, I am so excited for this trip, led by a local female guide! Female presence is still very limited in the mountains of Central Asia, especially at the ski guiding level so this is a rare opportunity to be part of this founding all women’s trip, to learn from and be led by a local certified female ski guide.
This isn’t your average ski trip. We’ll venture into the mountains of Ridder, a place still untouched by mass tourism, where the snow is deep, the terrain is wild, and the experience is deeply immersive. Think the best of Japan & Canada skiing combined. Each day will be spent exploring new lines on skis/snowboards, and each night we’ll return to cozy guesthouses, complete with wood-fired saunas, hearty home-cooked meals, and the kind of connection that only comes from sharing a mountain adventure with like-minded women.
This experience has been carefully curated so that all the logistics are taken care of, from your airport pickup in Almaty to the overland transfers to Ridder in the eastern part of Kazakhstan (Domestic flights from Almaty to Ust-Kamenogorsk Airport are not included in the price but guidance will be provided for a group booking) . All you need to do is show up, bring your gear, and get ready to tour your heart out.
The guesthouses are fully catered with traditional Kazakh cuisine (think warming soups, fresh breads, and nourishing stews). While the local diet is predominantly meat-based, we can accommodate different dietary needs, I’m vegetarian myself.
Whether you’re craving something off the beaten path, looking to grow your backcountry confidence in a supportive female environment, or just want to experience the magic of ski touring in Central Asia, this trip is for you.
Come ski wild terrain, soak in mountain culture, refresh in saunas after a day of touring, sleep in cozy guesthouses and connect with a group of women you’ll never forget.
Who This Adventure is Perfect For:
This trip is designed for adventurous women who already have some backcountry ski touring/splitboarding experience and are looking to explore deeper, more remote terrain in a supportive and empowering all-female group.
If you’re someone who:
• Has prior ski touring or splitboarding experience (including avalanche safety knowledge) (No need to be an expert, just knowledge of how it all works)
• Feels comfortable climbing variable terrain from 800M- 1500M climbing per day
Comfortable skiing or riding deep snow (there’s a lot of it this time a year) through the trees and open terrain
• Craves adventure in places most people haven’t even thought to go
• Is stoked on the idea of connecting with like-minded women in the mountains
• Values the chance to experience a rich new culture and way of life
• Wants to ride incredible untouched lines, then unwind in cozy guesthouses with sauna sessions
• Is ok with being disconnected from the world for a few days as there is not always the best signal
…then this adventure was made for you.
Whether you’re looking to ride with other strong, passionate women, or to explore a place far off the beaten track (without having to worry about the logistics), this journey offers a unique opportunity to deepen your mountain experience and build new friendships through shared adventure.
*Please note January is the heart of winter in Kazakhstan with temperatures ranging from -5 to -20 Celsius with some days as cold as -30, so come prepared with your warm winter layers.
*Almaty (ALA) airport is very accessible with many major carriers and budget airlines servicing it from Europe via Istanbul or Warsaw as well as many flights from North America and Oceania via China or Dubai.
*Also note most flights to Almaty arrive early in the morning so you’re free to arrive anytime on the 21st or early morning on the 22nd depending what works best for your schedule. Or you can always arrive a few day early and explore this vibrant city!
*Kazakhstan is a very safe country ranked highly on the world safety scale.
*The local language is Kazakh & Russian but our guides speak english as well as a lot of the staff we’ll encounter in Almaty.
*The guide to guest ratio is 5:1 , we’ll have 1 female guide and 1 other male guide that our female guide works with to ensure our safety in the mountains.
